Rajasthan Kabir Yatra (RKY) is India’s largest traveling Folk Music Festival, uniting seekers, scholars, researchers, students, artists, and musicians from diverse backgrounds to immerse themselves in the voices of Bhakti and Sufi saints such as Kabir, Meera, Bulleh Shah, Shah Latif, and others. This unique festival brings together local, regional, and national artists, offering a diverse array of performances ranging from folk and classical to electronic and acoustic interpretations of age-old poetry.
Founded in 2012 under the auspices of Lokayan Sansthan (Bikaner), Rajasthan Kabir Yatra has evolved into the country’s premier Folk music festival, showcasing the rich traditions of Sant-Vaani from across the country. The festival aims to promote communal harmony and unity through the empowering voices of saints, fakirs, and devotees. In 2016, the festival endeavoring to settle the communal problems of the state through its instruments of music and Kabir-Vaani, introduced a joint “Project Taana Baana” with the Rajasthan Police–which yielded tangible results and widespread recognition for its ability to help establish peaceful bonds among communities in disputed regions that had previously experienced rising communal stress.
Over the years, Rajasthan Kabir Yatra has expanded its reach to cover 120 regions across Rajasthan, attracting Yatris from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
After the festival’s successful 6th edition in 2022, the yatra is poised to colour Bikaner and its sister towns in the shades of Satsang from 2-6 Oct this year. As we continue to trace Rajasthan’s culturally rich and sensitive lands, we invite you to join us in celebrating the voices of Bhakti and Sufi saints and the spirit of communal harmony and unity.
जन सुन्दर सतसंग में, नीचहु होत उतंग।
परै क्षुद्र जल गंग में, उंहै होत पुनि गंग॥
Says Sunderdas, in divine company,
the common man immerses and rises
Just as a narrow stream of water falling in Ganga
becomes Ganga itself
