Unprecedented Partnership with Bikaner Police
It gives me immense pleasure to announce that for the first time, the office of Superintendent of police, Bikaner has come forward to support the week-long travelling music festival “the rajasthan kabir yatra” which is spread across six rural and urban locations in and around Bikaner. This opportunity is being taken up to use the community network created by Lokayan and The Kabir Project for community outreach.
Conventionally any relation with police is deemed as paternalising, but to the contrary, I am of the view that this is for the first time a symbiotic relationship is being sought where the role of police can be in suggesting locations where recent communal conflict has taken place or is in spate of radicalization and to utilise the energies of administration to fill in the blanks where communities feel wanting for genuine support. (Bikaner police seriously endeavors and hopes that this event becomes an annual event). The police on the same hand will get an opportunity to have a "dialogue with people" (what lokayan conceptualises) and genuinely engage with the youth especially through community outreach and create awareness about heritage and culture among them.
This endeavor will be dovetailed with energies of community liaison groups created at Panchayat level to create synergies for community outreach endeavors of Police.
Treat Bikaner Police as your partner in this great endeavor.
